Nurlan Kapparov organized the Harvard Club of Central Asia (HCCA) after receiving his MPA degree from the Kennedy School of Government in May of 2003. Under Mr. Kapparov’s initiative, HCCA organized several round tables with a participation of speakers from American Alumni Association, including American graduates and Kazakh government officials. HCCA also sponsors the talented youth of Kazakhstan by providing up to five annual scholarships to study at Harvard University.
Being a graduate of the Republican Physics and Mathematics School (RPMS) in 1987, Mr. Kapparov co-founded the school’s Alumni fund in 1999 and has been its long time contributor. RPMS counts approximately 1000 students and has now regained its status of the leading school in Kazakhstan sciences. Since 1999, the fund raised nearly $1 million for the school.
Mr. Kapparov chairs the Board of Trustees of the Jambyl Foundation. He invested $300K and attracted $1500K of state funds for the construction of the South Kazakhstan boarding school for children of low-income families. With an emphasis on mathematics the school numbers 500 students and is located in his father’s place of birth - At Bulak village, Shymkent region of South Kazakhstan. Mr. Kapparov has also been assisting a young talented Kazakh violinist, Akhan Meirbekov for 12 years, providing financial aid to support his participation in international contests and festivals.
Berik
Kaniyev is a co-founder of the Alumni Fund of the Republican Physics and Mathematics School (RPMS) and a member of its Alumni Committee. He has formed football club “Arlan” to promote the development of youth football in the country and has subsequently invested $350K in the club. Mr. Kaniyev has also been sponsoring the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedy of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He has helped the institute to acquire necessary equipment and furnitute, and has been regularly providing financial and other support.
Yuriy Pak is one of the founders and contributors to the Association of Koreans of Kazakhstan (AKK), a public organization which promotes development of the Korean language, culture and arts, protects legal rights and interests of Koreans in Kazakhstan and supports the development of international cultural and economic relations.
Erbolat Dossaev is a co-founder and the main donor of charity organization “Dara”. First opened in 2005, “Dara” serves the unprivileged children, mainly supporting children with disabilities or severe diseases, orphans and children from low-income families. Mr. Dossaev provides financial support to the charity as well as volunteers his time to address fund raising issues by using his connections in the business community to attract new donors. Mr. Dossaev is also a co-founder of the Alumni Fund of the Republican Physics and Mathematics School (RPMS) and a member of its Alumni Committee.
